Edy's Gluten Free Ice Cream List (Updated July 2016)

Ice cream is generally gluten free and safe for those who have allergies or an intolerance to gluten.  Flavors of ice cream that have cookies, pretzels, brownies, cone pieces, graham crackers, cookie dough, etc. all are not safe to eat and contain gluten unless otherwise stated and specifically made to be gluten free.  Other items in the ingredients that may add gluten are coloring and fillers.  Edy's Ice Cream is one of the few ice cream manufacturers that has many gluten-free options. Keep in mind that these ice creams are not labeled gluten-free but this list below includes ice creams with no gluten containing ingredients.

  5. thanks much for the info. I have a nephew who must eat Gluten Free. I've been enjoying the challenge of adapting recipes that meet this need. I have also found these adaptations have led me to opportunities for healthier, great tasting choices for us all.

  9. This is awesome...thank you!! I appreciate all of the research you have done! I am so tired of having to google search everything I want to put in my mouth. You'd think that they would just start labeling everything that is, and make our lives a little bit easier.

  25. Thank you very much for taking the time to research! I, sadly, tried the Edy's Slow Churned Vanilla Bean and was affected by it. It was the only new item introduced that day (actually tried it 3 times in a week) and did not want to recognize the symptoms! Once I stopped ignoring how I was feeling I put the spoon down and forewent the icecream😩. I'm nervous to try another flavor. Anyone else have a reaction to any on the list?

  27. They do not list their items as gluten-free on their website (at least not anymore). I emailed them and the list they mailed to me only had two flavors confirmed gluten-free: Slow Churned French Silk and Slow Churned Neapolitan. The rest were TBD except for the obvious ones which contained gluten (those with cookie dough, etc.), which they listed as containing gluten. They said for the rest "TBD=We currently cannon make any claims about Gluten-free for this product." It is likely more of their flavors do not contain gluten, but they do use shared equipment.
